Huntsville Alumnae Chapter wins Chapter of the Year at the 50th National Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana!
Congratulations to all of the members of the Huntsville Alumnae Chapter for outstanding work this past year and for everything all of you have done to make this a fabulous year for our chapter! Sixty two members of our chapter recently returned from an exciting and extremely busy week in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Chapter of the Year Signature Award is given to outstanding collegiate and alumnae chapters that have exhibited innovation, and quality execution in the areas of internal development, programmatic delivery, community involvement, chapter management and member involvement. The Chapter of the Year Award was awarded to Huntsville Alumnae Chapter during the Sisterhood Luncheon at the 50th National Convention in New Orleans. The criteria for the award is as follows:
First place recognition is awarded to one collegiate and one alumnae chapter in each state in the Southern region for this signature award. I am so proud and honored to report that our chapter was chosen for this prestigious award. A special thanks to all of those chairpersons, co-chairs and committee members who worked hard to accomplish our goals for this past year in all five programmatic thrusts and also to Soror Rosa Kilpatrick and Alicia Redrick for an outstanding job of putting our award winning package together for this submission.
We also won first place in the area of Educational Development for our Black History program and play done by our GEMS program under the leadership of Tonju Butler and Jenella Lymons with the play written by Ovetta Hobson.
We received a 3rd place National Award for membership reclamation under the leadership of our membership committee led by LaShanda Felton.
We received certificates of recognition for our chapter newsletter done by Tomoka Love and her committee and innovative technology for our automated sign in process, accomplished by Sandra Richardson and the members of the ICC committee.
Again, I thank everyone for their hard work, commitment and dedication to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. We should all be extremely happy with this wonderful accomplishment.
I look forward to seeing all of you in September and bringing these awards to chapter meeting for you all to be able to see them!
Yours in Delta,
Jackie Wyse
